Danvers’ Army Update – Blood Angels

It’s high time for another Blood Angels army update! It’s been almost exactly a year since the last one and I’ve painted a few new units. Progress is still a bit slow as my painting hasn’t sped up that much and two little kids and a full time job don’t leave much hobby time!

I’m excited to say I’m off to compete at No Retreat VIII in September with Fingers and Garfield. For those of you who don’t know No Retreat is a tournament run by the guys over at SN Battle Reports. There is nothing like an upcoming tournament to focus one’s mind on getting some units painted up!

Lieutenant

I was given this amazing space marine captain model and wanted to include him in my force! A joy to paint and I had fun practicing my freehand on his shoulder pad.

Librarian Dreadnought

I’ve posted about this guy before. My previous post was about how I tweaked the Custodes Achillus dreadnought to look a bit more like it belonged to the 9th. Here are a few pics of the painted model.

Sanguinary Guard

I originally planned a list with 10 of these guys in. But that was before painting all those white wings. Haha!

Storm Raven

Everyone loves a Storm Raven gunship! I had great fun on this one even though painting such a large model was a bit of a challenge. I think I messed up the priming a bit and I found the paint scratched off if I wasn’t careful.

Storm Talon

Another flyer! I liked painting this a lot. Big enough to be interesting but not as large as the Raven.

Scouts

I’ve got 10 scouts painted up now. Some with bolters and some with shotguns. I even sprinkled a few sniper rifles in for good measure.

Next up…

I’m in the middle of painting up a smash captain. I built this guy a couple of years back now and can’t wait to finally get him on the table!

Then I think I’ll take a break from models and maybe paint up some scenery or do a diorama or something. Who knows!
